Strategic Projects

Twenty per cent of Bio4Energy’s funding is dedicated to Strategic Funds that support new collaborations, innovative ideas, and emerging research directions within the biorefinery field. These strategic projects bring together researchers across platforms and disciplines to address important societal and industrial challenges while strengthening the development of the Swedish bioeconomy. The initiative also plays an important role in supporting early-career researchers during key stages of their academic careers.

“Bio4Energy funding allowed for me as a postdoc to engage in a project of my own design, while also attracting external funding for my research on plant-microbe interactions. Bio4Energy thus made it possible to initiate and investigate the potential of new ideas.”
