P2 FOREST-BASED FEEDSTOCKS (ForFeed)

Feedstock is the basis of all other platforms, as optimised feedstock will influence the whole value chain. Research on feedstock production systems contributes to increased wood yield through genetic tree breeding and engineering.

Within this platform, genetic and structural properties that are important for breeding and biorefining are investigated, as well as how these properties are governed by environmental and management practices.

Key areas of research: feedstocks from forestry, conifers and broad-leaved trees, characterisation and physiology, genetics and breeding of forest trees, optimisation of tree properties

Participants: SLU (Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, UPSC), UmU (Plant Physiology, UPSC), RISE

Platform leader: Hannele Tuominen hannele.tuominen@slu.se +46 70 692 7143
